This traditional Ayurvedic recipe serves as a great warming drink to soothe inflammation, reduce pain and promote healing. Turmeric which is the star in this easy to make recipe is well known for its healing properties which include:
anti-inflammatory
liver tonic (supports detoxification)
anti-oxidant
cholesterol lowering
anti-cancer
anti-microbial
This makes it great for many health conditions, but has been shown in study to help:
Rheumatoid and osteoarthritis
Diabetes
High cholesterol
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Obesity
Pain conditions
Wound healing
Turmeric is considered a gentle and safe spice, however excessive doses can cause nausea, diarrhea and aggravate gastrointestinal reflux. It should be avoided by those on blood thinners, if you are on diabetic medication, pregnant, have bleeding issues and/or gallstones, consult a health care practitioner before using turmeric.

I personally like drinking a cup before bed and use the following recipe which makes 2 servings and can be refrigerated and stored for up to five days:
Ingredients:
1 cup coconut milk
1 cup water
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 pinch of black pepper
1/2 tsp ginger powder (optional)
honey to taste (optional)
Bring coconut milk and herbs to a boil, let simmer for 10mins
Strain milk, add honey if desired and enjoy!
